The one fresh piece of astronomical knowledge I picked up last night was how impressively Jupiter can punch thru murk. Got skunked at Bonny Doon. It's very pretty there so never a waste. There was a high dense cloud deck, with only Jupiter punching thru. Had the place to myself, sat and had supper and hot coffee and smelled the lavender farm right there and listened to the crickets and peepers.
Either the SCAC types woosed en masse, or they knew more about the forecast than I did, or both. I for one was home by 9:30.
