Sept. 22-23, 2008 The first 5 of these objects are pretty much in the same area. Using a star atlas and "emission hopping" through the eyepiece. Starting point was at M52 in Cassiopeia. HB atlas Chart D-06.

NGC 7635: Emission nebula in Cassiopeia.
The Bubble Nebula. An easy find as it is very close to M52. Only seen with an OIII filter. Using 106X. The nebula shows nebulosity that surrounds a fairly bright mag 8 star. Round, fairly small, very faint. (Mag 11). A bright field star did not interfere with viewing.

NGC 7538: Emission nebula in Cepheus.
Another easy find, slewing west of the Bubble nebula. Only seen with the OIII filter. At 106x, fairly bright, moderate in size, oval shape, pretty diffused, edges are not definable. Shows brighter on the southern portion.

NGC 7510: Open cluster in Cepheus.
At 106x. This OC is very bright, very small, and compact. Cluster consist of about 7 stars that form the letter 'Y'. Installing the OIII filter, the cluster shows faint nebulosity/haze(?) embedded inside the cluster. Increasing the magnification to 138x, the nebulosity deteriorated. This is a very nice find!

IC 1470: Emission nebula in Cepheus.
At 138x and OIII filter. Round, pretty faint, very small, obvious nonstellar, brighter in the center, diffused edges.

NGC 7380: Open cluster with nebulosity in Cepheus.
I'm 99% confident that this is the correct find, so I'll submit it anyway....Refer to the image on SINBAD Aladin. Located in an extremely rich star field. This open cluster is bright, pretty large. Installing the OIII filter, shows nebulosity. Nebulosity is very large, fairly bright, encompasses the entire cluster. At 69x, the nebula fits about 1/2 the fov. Slewing in the immediate area shows additional star groupings with fainter nebulosity. This is a very large HII region.

NGC 281: Open cluster with nebulosity in Cassiopeia.
The Pac Man nebula. Located in a very easy location. The open cluster is very sparse. With the OIII filter installed, the nebulosity is pretty bright, very large. Direct vision shows a roundish shape, with adverted vision, seems to show more of a funnel shape. (106x). Brighter on the eastern portion. Suspect of seeing the mouth (or the bay) on the south portion.
