Greg LaFlamme
Cool with a capital "ool" ! I just popped out with my 12.5 f/5 and a 7 Nagler for 224x, acclimated for a short 10 minutes and had attit! It took another 5 minutes for the mirror to really settle down but its a thin mirror and the image sharpened up pretty fast. I noticed the GRS first, just about dead center of the S belt, then saw a sharp black dot at the W end of the N belt.. Very nice. I looked around for the second shadow and saw a dark mass in the center of the N belt and thought for a second that was it. A little more peeking and I caught the tiny little shadow just S of the GRS! What a wonderful spot for a spot! I wonder if there are creatures in the cloud tops of Jupiter enjoying totality :-)Thanks for the heads-up Jeff! See you at CalStar!!!
