Teri Smoot
There were a small group of dedicated astro-imagers/observers at IHOP2 last night. I (Teri) was there along with Frank Dibbell (a fellow imager) and Gary (didn't get the last name) from SVAS. We initally went to IHOP4 but there were non-astronomers camped there with a trailer, lights, et al so we rapidly decamped back to IHOP2 and set up.The night was clear, the transparency was excellent, and the seeing was great. After the moon went down around 11:00 it was also very dark. I did some imaging of M27 for a while and then went to the PacMan nebula (NGC281). Frank was imaging NGC7331 but when he saw what the PacMan looked like, he switched over and got some data on that as well. Gary observed visually for a while and then did some wide field of view imaging using a barn door tracker (looked like a pretty cleverly designed one as well).
As we were imaging, we used my 15x50 IS bino's for visual observing (as well as the standby Mk I eyeball). I mainly enjoyed the views of the Pleiades (later) and of the double cluster. Gary looked at lots of other things including Jupiter, the sights in Saggitarius, M31, etc.
We packed up around 12:30 or so and came back down the mountain. A good (if somewhat short) night enjoyed by all and very nice and dark after the moon went down.
Teri P.s., images later.....data needs to be processed.
