There were about 20 intrepid souls that ventured up (or down, we had several Oregoners) to "that old airport up by Lassen" for some late summer viewing. There were about 25 scopes pretty uniformly distributed among these people. The weather was very clear and the skies dark and transparent (with cloulds for only an hour or so early Friday night) Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (I didn't stay for Sunday night). It was hot on Friday and we had a little wind on Saturday but otherwise very nice weather during the day as well.
Saturday was public night and we had (I would guess) around 500 people or so come out to view with the astronomers. I spent most of my time on the sights in and around Saggitarius (including Jupiter). I think the public was most interested in Jupiter (and it did look really nice in the TEC-180FL) than the other sky sights but I think I was more impressed with the details I could see in the Lagoon that night. There were lots of deep sky objects to view in the 30" though.
No imaging this time; I spent more time debugging the issues I had had last time at IHOP (and think I've got them all resolved now). I'm planning on IHOP again Saturday to see what I can get after the moon goes down.
Thanks for all the other OR's from all the other places where people went (as Jamie said "We are TAC, we get off our butts").
