Rich Neuschaefer

It was a fun night watching Jupiter. I was up at Lick Observarory as a volunteer for one of their Summer concert nights.

Early in the evening we watched one of Jupiter's moons slip behind the big planet. I was using an my Astro-Physics 155EDFS (155mm f/7 APO refractor). I has a look at jupiter through the 40" Nickel reflector. We were showing much the same level of detail. Later as Jupiter transited the seeing was even better. The GRS was in view. There was a hint of horizontal festooning in the EZ. There were a couple of dark spots below the GRS, one following and one trailing. The GRS had a dmall pink middle. There was a lot of detail. I was using my 5.2mm Pentax SMC-XL.
