Wierd globular cluster

Richard Trost

Last night, I grabbed the 130st and set up on the 2nd floor patio. I don't know how long I spent trying to find something besides stars. Bad LP here.

The Coma cluster was hiding behind the birch tree. Then, because I was to stubborn to give up, I went poking in and around MEL 111.

After I don't know how long, I stumbled across what I thought was a galaxy where the charts and printouts said there wasn't supposed to be any that bright.

Must have been 45 mins or so later, I sketched the star pattern to the north of it. (Yup, it took that long to figure that out) and based on that I realized it was M53. A GC that looks like a big gx in a small scope.

Couldn't resolve anything in it though.

Are there any more like this out there?

Even though this was the only thing I could find and identify it was still good to find something.
