Herschel 400 list I finished last night.

Mark Johnston

The H-400 list one objects were observed first from 8" short Orion Newt, then rather quickly moved to 11" Celestron SCT and the final 20 or so with the new 18" f/3.7 StarMaster (man that thing rocks).

Over the last 6 months or so I started combining a few yet-unobserved SAC110, Caldwell objects in with a large number of DeepMap objects and the remaining H400s is why I finished SAC110 on the same night. DeepMap600 will take a while but most were H400.

As I went along one of the things I marked was if it was a 'favorite' so now as I go along I am looking at these favorites again and again as time marches on. I am also identifying ones that I could barely get any detail before and have a re-observe list to keep me busy. Course now with new gear, some of the ones not marked as 'favorites' may have made that list ... oh well, plenty of time to check things out again.

The beauty of this hobby is there are close to unlimited objects to observe and re-observe as the years move on.
