I lucked out during totality. It was pretty much a wash in Oakland where I was on the 24, getting reports of the eclipse on radio from other lucky observers. However, I was on route to Mitchell Canyon at the north east side of Mount Diablo for a meeting with the rangers... When I got there, it was completely clear! The moon had a distinct brownish red color, almost the same as Mars, just to the east. I'm really lucky to have seen it... it was a real treat. Funny.. while I was there, some friends in Colorado called me to find out what the bright red star was under the eclipsed moon...
