One of the highlights for me though was when someone on the other side of the parking lot (sorry... I'm terrible with names) told us when the ISS was set to pass. Sure enough, we all saw it appear in the skies.
I had seen it before by naked eye, and I had seen amateur pictures of it. What had never occurred to me before was to try to track it visually.
I was able to fairly easily track it (rapidly) with my 16" dob and a wide angle eyepiece. The solar arrays and general shape were clear, in a beautiful golden hue.
A few people (including my daughter) were able to come over and have a look. It was best to have one person tracking with the 9x50 finder scope, while another looked through the scope.
An experience not to be missed!
