Comet VZ13

by Michelle Stone

We were looking at it here at Plettstone on Friday night. Of course we didn't know that it was the comet. It was placed exactly in front of NGC 5820.

I couldn't fathom why this little galaxy looked so darned big and bright. Albert and Rashad both dialed it up in their scopes and we stared at it for some time wondering what was going on. We brought up the DSS image and something was not right!

On Saturday night we went back to check it and guess what 5820 was this little dim galaxy again. We thought it might be a comet and searched the field within 3 degrees for it but couldn't find it.

I looked it up on Sunday and found out that it was the comet.

This thing was big and bright in the telescope. I could see it in my little 50mm finder.
