Finally we have clear skies here, in south San Jose. I haven't seen the comet from several days, so today I took time to draw another sketch:

I promise, this is the last one I post! On the off chance that somebody wants to see more Holmes sketches, that somebody may check from time to time my sketches page ( http://astro.avtanski.net/sketches/ ).
About the comet: It is much bigger, and to me seems to have noticeably lower surface brightness than before. I _think_ I see again slight brightening toward the edge of the coma, but again, I might be wrong. Finally, the 4.5" StarBlast didn't show me the nucleus - the only bright dot is a field star about 1/3 from the center of the comma. As David Kingsley reported, the outer edges of the coma seem to fade away at some places - but with my small scope and less than ideal conditions (there is a bright light practically shining in my face) I am not sure of what I see - as I move my eyes and tilt my head, the darker part of the edge tends to move around, so I cannot confirm first-hand that this is real.
Regards,
- Alex
