Pictures of Comet Holmes from yesterday and today.

Vladimir Afanasiev

What a remarkable object!

Observed and took some pictures yesterday - 10/24/07 and today 10/25/07.

Easy to see with good details even in downtown Walnut Creek, with the Moon and slight haze.

To my eyes - visually in binoculars - today it looks very non-stellar. View through the scope (Celestron 11 inch, 19 mm Panoptic) confirms this noticable change.

The comet is quite large with bright core and two levels of shells. Color is still yellowish.

So I got shots of the Comet yesterday and today, trying to keep the same settings and processing. You are welcome to take a look:

I hope that weather will cooperate and we will be able to get more pictures in the coming days. It is all so exciting!
