Fremont Peak last Sat.

by Lou Hlousek

The CSC forecast for better seeing at FP lead me to go there last Sat. I joined Suzanne Patrick who was setting up her 10" Newt on a new Orion Atlas GEM in the SW lot. This was my third trip to FP. The sky was significantly brighter than the other two visits and seeing was only average. It might have gotten better later, but due to the bright sky I quit early, around 10:30. It was pretty quiet, an interested couple came by during twilight and chatted for a while and later two campers walked up (without flashlights!) and chatted for a while. There were no other disturbances. It was a little breezy and cool so I put on a warm jacket and overpants. I poked around for DSOs and dimmer clusters in Cepheus and Casseopeia. Jamie was setup on Ranger Row and came by and visited a bit. I camped out in my truck and broke down my setup and drove home in the AM.
