IC 5146, the Cocoon Nebula - was "seen" in the C14 with Nagler 31 and no filter, filling about 1/4 of the field. It had a ragged appearance to me, much like a splattered spider.
NGC 40 - I took a look the previous week at Chews Ridge, but seeing it through Tony Hurtado's scope we were able to make out shell structure. I did not not that the previous week, but perhaps Tony had a filter.
NGC 6888, the Crescent Nebula - After some looking I finally picked it up in the Nagler 31, making sure it wasn't fog on the eyepice etc. I noted it looked like a web of nebulosity strung between two stars.
The Eastern part of the Veil was easy, essentially direct vision in the C14; not quite as distinct as from Chews Ridge but still pointed and sharp edged.
NGC7006 in Delphinus as well as NGC6934 in Delphinus.
I was beginning to have some equipment problems and decided to turn in around 1230.
I still haven't decided on Calstar, especially with all the railing against chidren, as I would have to bring two boys aged 9 and 11. We'll see.
Mag 7 skies....
Chris
