I'd seen in Sky and Tel that there was a favorable libration for the SE limb of the Moon this weekend, so when I arrived home after a busy day shopping for plumbing fixtures (we're redoing a bathroom) I set up my 80mm ED.
The big impressive craters near the limb showed very well, including Langrenus, Petavius and Furnerius. I watched as the Moon slid into the twilit soup and was able to make out lots of interesting floor detail in all three. The big radial cleft and sweeping ridge/trench in P stood out boldly, and I caught the much finer rilles on the northern floors of P and F.
Finished up with a glimpse of Saturn before coming in for a late supper. Bedtime now - back to work early manana. Will bring a scope to work since the good librations continue and if weather holds this is a fine lunation for viewing the Eastern portions of our natural satellite.
Looking forward to seeing you all under dark skies later in the season...
