Robert and Sean convinced me to go to FP instead of to Coe. I would be interested in how the Coe people faired. We set up by the restrooms in the wind sheltered area. We could hear the wind howling over our heads all night. It got down to 34° F last night where we were, but the humidity stayed about 74%. Cold, but with only an occasional gust of wind manageable. Sean and I stayed until about 1AM
Last night was the second field test of the new travel scope. The bearings were a bit stiff Wednesday. I tuned them up based on Albert's suggestions. The az is now perfect. The alt is perhaps a little too loose, but it was still able to hold a position during an eyepiece change.
The seeing last night was nothing to brag about, but the transparency was very good. Unfortunately my corrected night vision is not that good so I did not get a visual magnitude. The magnified views were very impressive. All of the objects I looked at showed a lot of faint stars.
