After letting the scope cool down for a half hour Ichecked out the Moon and Mars with a 9mm Nagler ( approx210x). Mars was moving around a little. There were periods of stillness. In the southern hemisphere I could identify rough looking regions mixed in with some flat regions. According to Mars Previewer II this corresponds to the following features: Hellas, Mare Tyrrhenum, and Mare Cimmerium. It was helpful to use some filters 82A Blue, 21 Orange and TV Mars-B (basically the same as 21 Orange,at least there is the $25 rebate) to see the differencesbetween different regions. This was perhaps one of the best views of Mars I've had this year.
I was able to seean interesting irregular shaped crater on the moon. It had a valley or something crossing in the middle of it. There where also a terraced crater or two towards the rimof this irregular crater. I tried to identify what thiswas without much luck.
