It ended up being more camping and fishing then observing, but then again, any astro observing is better than none ;-)..
First time I tried observing at this location. Our campsite was resonably tree free except to the west which was obsured by a few trees up to about 20 deg. I would say limited magnitude was about 6.5 if not better. Definately better than Shingletown last July.
Thursday day night was the best night since there were not than many Labor Day weekenders on site yet. Just stuck to the eyecandy . Seeing was excellent along with transparency that night. On Fri and Sat had to deal with the campers till after 10:30pm or so.. Trans- parency and seeing was only good those two nights.
Here are some snaps I took to give you an idea about the location..

Note: 12x12 ft dirt pad where my daughter is.. Didnt use it since too close to campfire.

No, I'm not on the road. The scope is at the campsite parking next door.
Another excellent spot further up towards Ebbetts Pass. Nice flat area towards end of lake w/ parking. Hummmm.. Mountain look's vaguely familar ;-)... No, It's not Lassen but sure look's like it :-) ...
