and a few words about what happened after everyone left.
The fog remained under control as Marek mentioned until about daybreak. Then the winds started picking up again and that seems to be what stirs up the fog (aka "Marine Layer"). Marek and I both noted last night that while the wind was blowing the marine layer showed higher cloud tops and seemed to be less dense. I had theorized that the winds were simply stirring up the mix. Once the wind died down, the cloud tops fell lower and it seemed that the marine layer densified.
By 5:30am while shooting flats I was getting bits of fog coming over me up by the observatory.
