I took my 8" f/6 outside in front of the garage. Looking West, Jupiter was still pretty high, but the fog coming over the hills made for poor to mediocre seeing. Most of the time, Jupiter was swimming and the shadows were little more than a indistinct dark blur. However, during brief moments of mediocre seeing, I could separate the close pair of shadows.
I've seen double shadow transits before, including the one last Thursday. However, I've never seen a "paired" transit. Despite the poor seeing, I enjoyed the rare treat. For over an hour I watched the close pair march nearly in unison across the face of the disk.
