Saturn and her moons

by Paul LeFevre

Had a chance to do a portrait of Saturn and some of her moons last night. Didn't have time to mount a "big" scope, so I used my TV NP-101 with a 4X powermate. Canon 20D camera, 1 sec. exposure at 2160mm FL and f/21.6:

The brightest background object is a star (618ly)... Titan is at the bottom, Rhea at the top furthest from the planet, Dione and Tethys closer in just above it, and Iapetus is visible (just barely) on a diagonal from the star to Titan. Seemed an appropriate time to get Saturn and her retinue...:)
