Big prominence today 12/16
by Michael Swartz
There are only two small sunspots today but several nice filaments.
Additionally and more spectacularly there are two large prominences. The
best of today is really a winner! It looked to me like a large tree that
was being pulled out by it's roots. The similarity to a large tree trunk
was interesting. The top part was quite full and extended way to one side
as if the top of the tree had grown way to one side and ended up touching
the ground, or in this case reconnecting with the edge of the solar disk.
Uh... ok, so maybe that wasn't the best description. But... if you have ah
ha filter and scope you should definately get out and take a look at it. It
is very nice.
Clear skies!
