What a night!
by Richard Navarrete
Had a great night in the Southwest lot at Fremont Peak. Skies were as dark
as they get with a thick marine layer below us covering the lights of Monterey.
Skies were also very steady. Spent a great portion of the night observing
mag 15+ galaxy groups with a 6.7 Meade ultra-wide eyepiece in my 18"dob. The
weather was GORGEOUS and mild with nary a hint of wind. The company was the
best. This is what a star party should always be like.
For a detailed report of what was observed, hang on for Mark Wagners
observing report. We mostly worked together and he's a much better writer than I. :-)
(Besides, I'm lazy.)
