First I bbq'd a bit of tri-tip that had been soaked in Jack Daniels sauce with garlic pepper with a 3 bean and banana pepper salad on the side. Then while enjoying this fine meal and a cold drink I had a view of the sun.
Only one real spot of any size but there was a smaller group that wasn't there yesterday. I also noticed in h-alpha a bright active area that didn't seem to correspond to a spot group. The most interesting thing today was a really nice prominence on the top of the solar disk. It looked like it consisted of three separate structures. The first looked like an arch, the second like a fountain that spread at the top in opposite directions and the third looked like a big tree. These three structures appeared to all be in a line and each one was taller than the previous one so over all the thing made a nice rising curved structure that almost looked like a fish fin.
There were a few other smaller filaments and faculae, some nice swirling and wave like contours around the sunspot. Opposite the sunspot there were some smaller prominences that looked like a grove of palm trees I think.
It was a pretty day on the sun. Pretty darn warm too. I kinda feels like summer.
And... Mmmmm goood BBQ too. :)
Have a great day!
