MB 8/17/04, Lucky Seven

by Christopher Kelly

I had a good time for my first time at MB...even if I was not mentioned; I arrived about 9:10. I was parked with my C14 next to Jeff Crully on the end next to the gate. I finally packed up with Jeff at about 1:30 or so.

Objects Gary and I also viewed in tandem included M4, M57 (+central star), M56, M13+NGC6207, M17, The Viel (both sides) plus NGC7009 (Saturn Nebula) I've been working through the Caldwell List, and I have been trying to glimpse the Cocoon Neb. No joy however. We tried to get NGC 7293 (Helix), but I have relied on seeing that through the 9x50 finder, and it was not plain enough to me to find.

I really like being able to get to a gray sky site near home as well. It only makes me ravenous for really crisp dark skies like I had last night at Chews Ridge (finally saw the $%##$%#& Cocoon!).

Clear skies too. Next time we'll meet.
