Brief MB OR

by Rich Neuschaefer

Thanks very much to James, Marek and co. for setting up the long observing session at MB last night. We had a great time. Lots of little meteors and quite a few bright ones. Several left smoke trails we could watch twisting in the night sky (through our binoculars).

One highlight for me was finding the Helix Nebula in my Leica 8x42 BN binocular, without a filter. This was when the Helix was in the darker part of the sky (SW) at MB. It's a big round spot. While looking through the binos I aimed my green laser pointer it and several other people confirmed seeing the Helix in their binos. Neat way to point out objects.
