First light for my 8" String Scope
by Craig Colvin
I made time this afternoon to do a final push to finish my 8" string scope.
I still have a few minor issues but I was able to take it outside tonight
and do first light. Took a look at Saturn, Jupiter, M42, and a few open
clusters who's numbers I don't know off the top of my head. The mirror
appears to be quite nice and I saw quite a bit of detail on Jupiter.
The scope is a little top heavy, and it looks like I need to move the reflex
finder so I don't have to contort quite so much but otherwise it's quite
useable.
I took some quick pictures and through them up on my web site.

Just wanted to share, thanks for reading.
