Seeing was also poor in Albany last night, though I did catch a nice shadow transit on Jupiter between 10:30 and 11:30. Can someone check which moon this was? If there was nothing going on, then the seeing was *really* bad.
I took a quick look around with my 7 inch Starmaster about 12:40 am last night and also caught the very end of a shadow transit on Jupiter. The shadow appeared to be cast by approaching Callisto, which was recognizable as both duskier colored, and a bit out of line with the rest of the moons. I checked this later, because Callisto shadows are much rarer to catch than those of other moons. It was indeed Callisto's shadow, which apparently was visible from about 8:57 to 12:45 PST last night.
There is a useful text file of Jupiter moon events for 2004 at:
http://www.projectpluto.com/jevent.htm
I usually download this to my PalmPilot as an easy reference during
the year, but need to update last year's file.
