Last Night, Tonight

by Brian Zehring

I finally got the pieces together to take my first astrophotos last night. Very cool. Jimster stopped by and gave me a run through on using the Lx-200 (thanks Jim) and Gene was kind enough to come by for a few hours and help me set up the ccd. Thanks again Gene. Very helpful. Sky was lousy with lots of high clouds, but the east was mostly clear for the pictures of the orion nebula. I also went out tonight and took some pictures of M1, Saturn. Great night tonight, if the seeing wasn't so lousy I would have taken out the 30". The horizons aren't very good at the house, but it is pretty dark especially to the north and east. I'd say limiting mag tonight was about 5.5. Very nice. Really convenient too...
