Aurora seen at Blue Canyon last night
by Brian Zehring
Several of us went to Blue Canyon last night and around 12:30 I looked out
of the corner of my eye and saw a huge swath of deep red to the north that
extended up 30-40 degreees. There were also several large pretty wide white
"streaks" almost like searchlights coming from below the horizon. The
streaks and size of the aurora changed by the minute extending out through
the bowl of the big dipper to the east and over almost to Cygnus setting
towards the west. It slowly faded over 30-40 minutes. Very cool!
