How was last night?

by Bob Czerwinski

I, too, joined the gang at Montebello last night, bringing along my 12.5"-f/5 Newt/Dob. Due to an early-morning commitment I had to depart a bit after 11:15pm ... which is why/when the smoke and clouds started clearing. (You're welcome, Kevin!)

Despite the transparency issues, and a bit of on and off seeing, fantastic views of Mars were being produced by Rich Neuschaefer's AP 180EDT. The irregularness (is that a real word?) of the south polar cap was suspected, and the bright area between Mare Erythaeum and Mare Acidalium - Chryse, I think - was very evident. (Hope I spelled those names correctly.)

Thanks for the views, Rich!
