OR: 8/27 2:51am from parking lot in Fremont

I took my little scope out last night into our well lit apartment lot around 2:30am and hung out until a little after 3:15am.  I wanted to be there out under that bright orange/red orb as it made it’s pass through it’s closest proximity to earth in my lifetime.  I would never have a chance to get closer to Mars than at that moment so I wanted to see it.

It would have been fun to be up on Fremont Peak with the more serious observers but I went where I could.   The location wasn’t great, the seeing wasn’t great, but I was there.  I was participating in a moment in history.    I saw it.  I felt it.  It was very cool.
