Mars at opposition at Montebello

Tonight at Montebello was an odd mix of great views and mars madness.

Dan and I set up, him doing visual, and me doing web cam imaging. The ranger dropped by and asked us to please make sure only TACies were present. They did not want tonight (or tomorrow night) to turn into an unplanned and unscheduled public event (take note for tomorrow)!

In practice, this was impossible. We would have needed armed guards. All evening there were a parade of well meaning, interested mars seekers walking in and even setting up an occasional scope in the lot or on Page Mill outside the lot!

I tried my best to "shoo" people out as I left and locked the gate, but there is only so much you can do. Here is an early image (processed on site):
