Saturn occultation of M1 OBSERVATION

by Andrew Pierce

Several of us at Montebello last night (Jan. 5th) saw the M1-Saturn-Titan grouping. The key was to put Saturn just out of the field of view. I saw some yellowish diffraction and spillover light from Saturn and its rings, Titan, and a distinctive white glow that was obviously M1 as it was centered beyoud Titan and a different color from Saturn's light. I didn't use a nebula filter.
