Objects seen:
M78 (NGC 2068) | Reflection nebula in Orion. |
---|---|
Two bright stars are embedded inside a fairly bright fan shaped nebula. Unfiltered view was best. | |
IC 418 | Planetary nebula in Orion. |
Stellar at low magnification., Using 195x, this planetary is very small, very bright (sbr 5.80). The disk shape has very definable edges. A hint of blue color could be seen. | |
NGC 1691 | Open cluster in Orion. |
Fairly sparse, with about 45 stars in two groups in an elongated shape. | |
NGC 1893 | Open cluster (with nebulosity involving IC 410) in Auriga. |
A large open cluster that is fairly rich inside. Using an OIII at 130x a wealth of nebulosity can be seen throughout the cluster and surrounding areas. Very bright nebulosity can even be seen surrounding the fainter stars within the cluster. This is a nice object. | |
NGC 2022 | Planetary nebula in Orion. |
An easy find using 94x. Disc shape, edges are almost definable, bluish in color. The OIII filter slightly enhanced this nebula. No centrel star was seen. During my pre-ops planning, A photo shows that this is a ring shape PN. With the OIII installed, I get the illusion of a hint of a tiny hole in the center of the disc. (195x) | |
Meissa (lambda) | Double star in Orion. |
The brightest star at Orion's head. Primary mag 3.6, secondary mag 5.5 Sep. 4".3 both are white, fairly easy split at 94x |
