MB last night, a mini report
by Bob Jardine
There were quite a few people at MB last night, many more than I
expected. It was a little bit cold, not too bad, but there was big
wind, and it was gusty. Peter mentioned that his (15" Discovery) was
useless unless he pointed it directly down wind. Maybe that's OK...I
guess that some professional telescopes point only in one Azimuth
direction. Didn't Herschel do that as well??
Speaking of Herschel, I was frustrated... Last time out, a few weeks
ago, I had to skip several H400 objects that weren't in SA 2000, and
made a mental note to bring Uranometria next time. Shoulda made it a
real note, instead of a mental one. Gettin' old sure is a bummer.
The seeing was poor, and the light domes were much as they always are.
I left at around 10:30. There were a few that left later.
