Leonids from Pacifica
by Stacy Jo McDermott
Well, we had incredible transparency though seeing was a little turbulent. I
thought I had set my clock for 2.30AM but it was 3.30 AM when it went
off...oh bother. Stood on the back deck while Leo was rising and counted
about 1 meteor per minute. Some where quite big with huge "bushy"
tailes...makes sense, Leo, bushy tails, cats...ahhh, anyway, most I saw were
the brighter meteors with a couple fainter ones thrown in. If the Moon
weren't so bright, it seems that this year is as good as last year...just
conjecture. But nice all the way around. Would have stayed out longer than
15 minutes but it's quite windy here and I have to get up for work.
