My wife and I visited friends in the Santa Rosa area last night. We were at about 1400 ft elevation. Just in case the weather turned out nice (it did), I took my trusty TV101/Gibraltar along and ended up having an enjoyable quick-peek at a few items that are easy for this GOTO guy to find. To wit: M57, M13, M31, Double Cluster, Pleiades. I could not stay up very late but enjoyed what we saw.
Unfortunatly I did not last long enough for Saturn to rise. But I got more viewing in that I had originally expected.
Nice area up there. I am thinking that I should try Lake Sonoma sometime: it seems that it is only perhaps a half hour further away for me than is Fremont Peak.
