2002 NY40

by Bill Arnett

I managed to see 2002 NY40 tonight despite the city light, the Moon and hazy skies. It was just at the limit of visibility with my 12" LX200, I would estimate about mag 10 or 10.5. But there was no doubt about it: even tonight a whole day before closest approach it is screaming across the sky: I could easily detect motion in just a minute or two of watching at 150x by looking at its position relative to nearby stars.

Tomorrow it should be much brighter and moving even faster.
