News from Shingletown

by Jane E. Smith

The Shingletown Star Party is in full swing. I was up yesterday to help with setup. It was a bit warm (104), but temperatures are expected to drop tomorrow and over the weekend. By the time I left at 5pm, eighteen of the expected 60 scopes had arrived. Mark Wagner with his caravan from the Bay Area rolled in at 11am. Brad Franzella from Chico and George Malyj from Davis showed up about 3pm. We even had two fellas arrive from San Diego and La Habra after 2 days of travel.

Jim and Gregg were out Monday and Tuesday night. Gregg was over from Redding. A little breeze hit around midnight on Monday, but Tuesday was awesome, accoring to Jim. They've been observing all night in their shirt-sleeves.

My two red flashlights arrived in today's post.
