Nice evening at MB, Tue.

by Rich Neuschaefer

There were about a dozen people at Montebello last night (Tue). The sky was clear. The seeing was quite good. The planets and Moon were nicely in a line. I did see Mercury, after Jay and others kindly mentioned I had been looking at that trickster Aldebaran.

Jupiter was showing nice banding. Venus was surprisingly, at least to me, full. The color difference between Mars, Venus, Saturn and Mercury was interesting.

I could fit the comet and M13 in the same field using a 35mm Panoptic in my TV-76. Omega Cen. was easy to see just above the notch in the hills south of the MB parking lot.

Jay was splitting doubles I had not seen before. His 6" AP was giving very clean star images.

I left about 10:30 pm.
