We had a successful school star party for the four second grade elementary school classes at Reed Elementary School in San Jose on Tuesday night. There were four scopes set up and we concentrated mainly on the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn and the Orion Nebula. The transparency was not great, but the air was steady enough that I could easily see six stars in the trapezium with my C-9.25.
Cutest comment: Upon viewing Saturn one little girl turned to her Mom and said, "It looks like a sticker."
Cutest question: After waiting patiently in line, listening to what the others had already seen through the various scopes, a little girl came up to me and said, "Can I see Minnesota"? I thought she was putting me on, but she was serious.
Dumbest question: A parent wanted to know what was farther away, the moon or Saturn. Oh brother!
