Montebello, Friday night report

by Richard Crisp

Great conditions for the first time this week were found at Montebello last night. The temperature was a bit chilly at sunset, but warmed up as the night went on.

An astronomy lab TA from Stanford, Peter Burner, showed up with his C9.25/GM8

The wind died out and the sky was very clear and steady seeing. I saw very little twinkling of the stars.

I imaged M27, M82 and M81. I finally completed my experiment of imaging M27 through narrowband filters centered on specific spectra. I used Ha, Hb and O3 and a DeepSky filter that passes those same spectral lines.

The image of M27 can be seen in my Yahoo Briefcase at

I'll be up at Fremont Peak tonight in hopes of imaging.
