Whooppee MB last night had seeing as steady as I've ever experienced ... despite the moon and a few clouds, the night was fantastic. Mars (showing 140 degrees longitude?) was fabulous in my humble 8" (with 5mm Tak LE and a red and sometimes a blue filter).
With rock steady air like this, even the MOON was sooo cool. At 240 power, I left my red filter on the eyepiece and drifted across gnarly purple canyons, gothic cliffs and eerie cast shadows. (The moon is a ghost town, no?) Even my teenage son (who usually only humors my astronomy) was actively engaged and impressed.
And thanks to you other four Tac-o's who shared your views with us. God bless MB.
