Coe 06/22/01

by William G. Schultz

The wind was the biggest factor at Coe, last evening: N avging 5 - 10 mph. No dusting. Temps were cooler than the previous night ~66F; 33% RH. Long pants and sleeves were required.

Seeing suffered a bit, however the shy was darker and a tad more transparent. M-13 was easy NI, and the two of us observing are confident we visually spotted M27. My info lists M27 with a mag of 7.4, so I'm thinking that genepi was more of a factor than I realized. ;) The traditional star counts indicated a limiting magnitude of 6.5 or so.

My observing continued through Pegasus, where I returned to 7331 and the quintet, and then dropped into the large cluster of galaxies NW of alpha-Peg. Again, the C-11 and the conditions allowed a wonderful view.

I grew tired early, and decided to leave early without incident. Still, it was a wonderful evening.
