The temp was 62, the sky was -very- steady. Jay Freeman was (and is still) there with his Vixen mounted on an N8 chassis.

I took up the N5 and forgot the tripod. (thats what I get for moving back and forth between vehicles).

However the trunk deck worked fine (except for looking south - I wonder if anyone makes Astro Qualified shocks ?? <g>). The N5 has rubber feet that dont slip, even on a waxed surface.

No Moon but pretty light. Went through all of the visible doubles in the N5s data base. Even looked at the double double which was about 6 deg above the horizon. Since I know what it looked like, I -imagined- four stars but if I hadnt known, I dont think I would have figured it out. All of the others fell before the N5 on such a steady night except for one that I dont remember the name of. It was in the murk like the DD.

It was a very nice evening, although pretty short for me, with a few mosquitos so you couldnt say it was perfect. Short sleeves and no hat was fine. A very nice evening, indeed.
