For those of you who haven't yet heard, there's a humongous spot on old sol right now. Pat and I have a couple mylar eclipse glasses sold by Rainbow Symphonies (look like the old 3d movie glasses, but mylar instead), and stepped out back and looked. Easily naked eye... big spot! Another naked eye spot is about on the meridian, below the center of the sun.

If you get a chance to, look at this one. It is probably the most dramatic sunspot I've seen in several years.

WOW!!!! that is a BIG sunspot! There's so much structure and detail to it. Get a look while you can!

I saw it through a Zeiss Miniquick and it is huge. Will someone shoot it?

Is this big sunspot just coming into view or moving out of view?

I just had a look at it with a filter and my MiniQuick. I guess since it is on the left side of the sun in a correct image that the spot will be moving into better view?

Wow squared...

I even hauled my 13 year old daughter out from in front of MTV and showed her the spots through my Mak 90mm with Thousand Oaks Sun filter, 9.5mm Plossl. She even said "Kewl', which is exactly what she said when she saw M31 the first time.

How about the grouping at the Equator on the Meridian (guess that's the center)?... I actually thought I saw a cluster of 4 spots moving about there..

Great detail and structure, as Steve says.

Man, what a storm.

A must see!
