Brief Montebello Report

by Jay Reynolds Freeman

I took my C-14 to Montebello on Tuesday 19 September. Weather was clear, dry, and warm. In rather less than three hours, ending at moonrise, I observed 67 objects, mostly faint galaxies that I had not seen before, mostly in Pegasus. One helpful and interested ranger chatted for a while, and one other TAC type was there for part of the time, with a 10x70 binocular. After he left, the coyotes became most active, with howls, whines, growls, and grunts coming from very close in.

I had a fine night, and expect to try again this evening, Wednesday 20 September.
