Lunar and Planetary Observing

by Rich Neuschaefer

Half a dozen of us were out last night (Sept. 7th) watching the Moon pass in front of a group stars above the Teapot. I could see the southern half of Hadley's rill. However, the seeing was not too good. While the moon was still up we looked at NGC 7331 and other bright DSOs.

There were two AP 155EDFs, a Celestron 6" achromat, a Celestron Celestar 8, and I beleive an 8" Dob. We were in the hills just west of Palo Alto, Calif.

The fellow with the Celestar 8 showed us Neptune, Uranus and Pluto. One person with a 155EDF was in position to show Saturn when it was just off the horizon. We start packing as Jupiter was coming up.
